Biography: William Briska worked at Elgin Mental Health Center from 1974 - 2002. His job experience helped inform his understanding of the facility's history. Starting as a treatment unit caseworker, he progressively advanced to an assistant unit director; assistant and later Director of Central Admissions Service; Administrator over the departments of Medical Records, Utilization Review, and Clinical Audits; Mental Health Court Liaison; and Director of Management Information Services. He has a bachelor's degree in history and a master's degree in social work. He greatly appreciates being able to volunteer as Elgin Mental Health Center' s historian and being invited to give lectures and tours related to mental health history.
