Raymond Bruzan

Connection to Illinois: Chicago born Ray Bruzan grew up in the Southern Illinois community of Mt. Vernon. He holds degrees from Southern Illinois University, Illinois State University, and the University of Illinois-Springfield. During a 42 year teaching career, Ray taught at Lanphier High School and Ursuline Academy in Springfield, and completed his last five years as a chemistry professor at Benedictine University-Springfield. He was the 1990 Educator of the Year for Springfield Schools. Ray and his wife Pamela have lived in Rochester for the past 47 years.

Ray is a non-fiction author of central Illinois history. He has also authored a children's book with a Rochester Township Sangamon County setting.

Biography: Ray Bruzan has authored articles in the Journal of Chemical Education, the American Biology Teacher, and Illinois Times

He wrote the Orange Judd Historic Walking Tour Guide of the Historic Homes of Rochester, IL in 2015. The book received an Award of Excellence from the Illinois State Historical Society. The companion book describing the historic farms of Rochester Township is due for publication in 2018.

Ray and his wife Pam Bruzan co-wrote in 2018 the book Cotton, Violins, and Shots in the Night- A Timeline Visit to Rochester, IL. The authors received in 2018 an Award of Excellence from the Illinois State Historical Society. Ray also wrote in 2018 the children's book The Ghost Train of Lost Bridge Trail.
