Connection to Illinois: I came to Illinois in 1965 from the state of Mississippi. I lived in Rockford for 11 years before relocating to Springfield, Illinois in 1976. I attended college at Rock Valley College,University of Illinois where I received an MPA. I am retired U. S. marshal and Chief of Police. I have written about Black State Trooper in Illinois and Black U. S. Marshals

Biography: The Author, The Honorable Robert Moore, retired United States Marshal is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Springfield, with a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. Marshal Moore was appointed by President Clinton in 1994-2002 to the position of United States Marshal for the Central District of Illinois. He is an accomplished writer, an inspiring motivational speaker, historian, and curator of the National Black Marshal traveling exhibit. Since 1976, he has published numerous articles in various police magazines. These articles include “Strategies for Increasing Black Police Executives,” “Chief Moore’s Journal to Vietnam and Cambodia,” “Marshal Service Gets Record Number of Black Marshals,” “History of the Minority Offices in the Illinois State Police,” and “Solving the Crises of Young Black Males.”
