Pen Name: J.B. Frank Connection to Illinois: I was born and raised in the Chicago Northwest side. I am one of 14 siblings and we lived in a typical Chicago bungalow. We went to St. Ferdinand's Catholic Church and school. Then on to Mother Theadore Guerin High School. On an art scholarship I attended Mundelein College but changed my major and transferred to Loyola University.I started writing in a freelance way for a variety of children's magazines. I write about stories that highlight my childhood experiences. Somewhere in the City is a memory of my dad having to work in downtown Chicago. Took the El home and we see that in the illustrations. Count On Me 123 also inspired by my Chicago upbringing. All the people that made me feel safe and happy. Biography: My major at Loyola University was Communications. I started working in the television industry for over 20 years. I began as a receptionist for the Catholic Television Network and stayed with them working up the ranks to producer. My claim to fame was recording 365 masses for shut-ins! I stayed working in television industry freelancing and working on projects ranging from Animation to Documentaries.I partnered with a Chicago producer and created two series for HGTV 'At The Auction' which features Chicago auctioneer Leslie Hindman and 'Cityscapes' highlighting the gardens in Chicago. Both very successful series. I was nominated and won an Emmy for my documentary on Ruth Page, a Chicago dancer which also won a CINE award. I was nominated for a National Emmy for a children's music program.
