Connection to Illinois: Barrett was born and raised on a farm in Hume, Illinois. He graduated from Danville Area College and received a BFA from the University of Illinois and now lives in Urbana, Illinois with his wife, Nancy.

Biography: For many years, Jerry Barrett worked as a graphic designer for the University and since 2000 he has been a free lance graphic designer and cartoonist. In 2010, his wife and him started Sunnycrest Press, a small publishing firm focusing on children's print and e-books, education and poetry.
