Pen Name: None Connection to Illinois: Barnes lives in Chicago. Biography: Lynard Barnes began writing short stories at the age of 17. He served 13 months in the Republic of Vietnam as a U.S. Marine and has spent the last 40 years synthesizing the experience as a microcosm of life in general. His novels, ''Rolun'' and ''Phobos Lock'', are snippets of that synthesis. He worked over twenty years as a Program Analyst at the U.S. Department of Justice, retired. He developed and marketed computer software and taught adult education classes for the City Colleges of Chicago and the Chicago Public Library. In 1994, he launched ''Trices Book Review Journal'', which has been in continual publication in one form or another. A second edition of ''Rolun'', re-titled ''Rolun: 2120'' was published in July 2012.
