James W. Buel

Pen Name: None Connection to Illinois: James was born and raised in Illinois and moved to San Diego in 1908 Biography: James William Buel was a journalist, author, and editor, whose name appeared on the title pages of fifty-four works, some of which contained from ten to fifteen volumes. He wrote a lot of adventure tales about the wilds of Africa and the American West in the late 19th century, and is siad to have been in jail with the notorious outlaw Cole Younger.
