Died: 2009 in Springfield Illinois Pen Name: None Connection to Illinois: Mr. Guerra was born in Chicago, Illinois and resided in Springfield, Illinois, until his death in 2009. Biography: At the age of nineteen he had a diving accident, which left him paralyzed and quadriplegic. Although disabled, Richard overcame obstacles and challenges to become recognized as a leading advocate in fighting for the rights of persons with disabilities in the State of Illinois. Guerra was a silver medal winner in the national wheelchair games. Richard was also one of the only persons with a disability to freefall skydive. He now resides in Springfield, IL, along with his wife, Michelle, and daughter, Aria.
