Connection to Illinois: At age 17, Ross came to Chicago to study Painting at the American Acedemy of Art, where he hit on the idea of painting his own comic books.

Biography: After three years at the American Academy of Art, Alex Ross went to work for an Advertising Agency where and editor from Marvel Comisc suggested that they collaborate on a story. His career was launched from there.
