Biography: Sheryl Trudgian Jones spent her entire career interacting with children and their families as a teacher and social worker. Early-on her mother interested her in tracing family history. Genealogy, combined her curiosity of how families work, led her to seek her own roots. She earned a Masters in Social Work (MSW) with a concentration in family life from Aurora University, Illinois. Meanwhile she continued to research the Trudgian family surname, both in the U.S. and in Cornwall, England. Retirement has given her the time to publish three volumes of 'Lillian's Diaries: Whispers of Galena's Past' (1913-1931). The books are comprised of the actual daily entries of her ancestor, Lillian Trudgian, enhanced with some of Lillian's recipes and photos. Sheryl wrote an article for the Illinois State Genealogical Society highlighting how the first set of diaries were found and the process of self-publishing them. Sheryl shares her interest in genealogy by facilitating beginners' genealogy classes for individuals taking their first steps towards finding their roots and researching others genealogy on an individual basis. She is a member of the Cornwall Family History Society and the Illinois State Genealogical Society. Recently she joined the international Find-a-Grave Project as a volunteer photographer.

During this final volume (1926-1931) of the trilogy the financial well-being of the U.S. is slowly eroding until it culminates with the Stock Market Crash and the beginning of the Great Depression. Lillian's life is impacted, not so much by the financial decline of the country, but by the decline of her own health and several traumatic events within her family. Her individual world becomes smaller and smaller, and yet her family and nearby relatives are there to support her. --Back cover.
