Connection to Illinois: Badikian-Gartler received her doctorate in creative writing from the University of Illinois at Chicago and is a long time Chicago resident.

Biography: Badikian-Gartler is a faculty member at Chicago's Roosevelt University, the University of Illinois at Chicago and the Newberry Library where she teaches literature, writing and women's studies. Today, she also teaches at Northwestern University in Evanston.
