She was raised in Tasmania, which is the island state of Australia. She moved to Chicago in 1992 to live with her husband. She now lives in Virginiawhere she works at ''KaBOOM!,'' an organization dedicated to saving play. She is part of a mentoring program called ''Everybody Wins! DC''.
