Connection to Illinois: The author lived in Southern Illinois form 1981-2003 where her husband taught electrical engineering at SIU Carbondale.

Biography: Hau-ling Hu has taught Chinese Language and Literature at the University of Colorado at Boulder. She has received the prestegious Chinese Literary and Arts medal of Honor in Biography for the Chinese Language edition of her book. The book was foreword by Paul Simon.
