Brunner was born and raised in Chicago. She attended Our Lady of Victory Elementary School and Good Counsel High School in Chicago. She attended DePaul University & Northeastern Illinois University (undergrad) and received her Master of Education degree from University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana. Her books also take place in Illinois.

Biographical and Professional Information

When Kym is not writing, you'll find her teaching reading and language arts full-time to 7th graders in Prospect Heights, Illinois. She's been writing for over ten years and an active member of the Society of Children Book Writers and Illustrators. She leads two critique groups and often attends the national conference in LA. Kym is happily married and has three college-age daughters and two cute dogs.
