Biographical and Professional Information

Gerardo Cárdenas is a Chicago-based writer and journalist. Since 2008 he has served as editorial director of ''Contratiempo''. He is currently the Senior Manager for Communications with AARP in Illinois. From 2004 through the end of 2007 he was the Chicago Press Secretary for Governor Blagojevich. Before that he was a reporter and editor for several print and broadcast outlets for over 20 years in Mexico, Europe and the United States. Gerardo is also a fiction and short essay writer whose works have been published in magazines and anthologies in Mexico, Spain and the United States. His first book of Spanish-language short fiction is titled “A veces llovía en Chicago” (Sometimes it rained in Chicago).
