Connection to Illinois: Farina was born and raised in Chicago and graduated from Steinmetz High School. He attended Ilinois State University and later Columbia College Chicago and DePaul University while working as a photographer for the City of Chicago and both Sports Writing and Sports Announcing in the Chicago area. He currently resides in Brookfield.

Biography: Mark Farina was born and raised in Chicago and graduated from Steinmetz High School where he began his communications career as the Sports Editor of the ''Steinmetz Star''. He has served as a Sports Stringer for City News Bureau of Chicago and as Public Address Announcer for Steinmetz Silver Streaks Basketball and Football his Junior and Senior years. Farina attended Ilinois State University where he was a Sportscaster and On-Air Personality hosting a weekly Sports Talk program and providing Play-by-Play for select ISU Football, Basketball and Baseball. He returned to Chicago and attended Columbia College where he was Sports Director of the Student Radio station and hostd a weekly Sports Talk Program. He was a writer during the 1980's for the Monthly Sports Publication- ''Red, White & Green Sports'' published by the Italian-American Sports Hall of Fame and later a Prep Sports Reporter for the ''Chicago Sun-Times''. He was also the Host, Producer/Reporter for the Weekly Sportsradio Program ''SportsJournal'' on WTAQ-AM in LaGrange, Illinois. A Professional Photographer, he has worked for the City of Chicago and has had his work published in numerous Trade Publications, ''National Geographic Great Britain'', ''Readers Digest'' and newspapers and on websites around the world.In 1990, he began an 18 year Career as a Public Relations Specialist for the City of Chicago Department's of Environment (16 Years) and Streets & Sanitation. He has continued as a Sports Announcer and currently announces for over 140 high school, college and professional events annually.Since 2009, he has been the Principal of ''Mark Farina Communications'' based in Brookfield, Illinois. In October, 2016, he added author to his list of accomplishments by publishing his first book - ''Casey & The Flying Fortress''.
