Stewart was born and raised in Mattoon and went to school there as well. She received her GED through Lake Land College in Mattoon, and was one of three speakers at her GED commencement ceremony. She still resides in Mattoon today.

Biographical and Professional Information

Debra J. Stewart is a published author. Her book ''Inspirations From God: Sharing Words of Encouragement on His Behalf'' was published by America Star Books in November of 2012. It is available on to order as well as available on Kindle. She has attended two book signings - one at ''Lifeline Christian Books & Gifts'' in Effingham, Illinois and the other at ''The Open Door Christian Bookstore'' in Terre Haute, Indiana.

She is active in her church, and in her spare time enjoys writing for the Lord, cooking, walking, helping others and spending time with family and friends.
