Biography: Kestner Wallace was an educator for 41 years before retiring in 1987. He has also been a regular contributor to ''Springhouse'' magazine for nearly 30 years, writing his memoirs as a boy growing up on a farm during the Great Depression, as a one-room schoolteacher and principal, as a sailor during World War II, and as a keen observer of life.
