Clyde Hall
Born:
Connection to Illinois: Hall currently resides in Mt. Vernon. Biography: I’m Clyde Hall, a life-long comic book fan and an Elder Statesman of Geekery with interests including, but not limited to, vintage toys, horror movies, role-playing games, pulp fiction, Fortean phenomena, cryptozoology, and the supernatural. But above all, I've always been a writer. I’ve written comic book reviews for online sites like DoomRocket.com and I provide reviews for Comics Beat. I also take part in a live weekly comics review show on YouTube and Facebook called Comic Book Spectrum, part of the Rising Tide Broadcast Network. My submission, ‘Worlds Apart from a Tar Paper Shack’, won first place in the 2021 Tierney's Tales of Terror Audio Drama Competition. Currently I'm a contributing writer for Stormgate Press, with stories published in their New Pulp award-winning anthology series ‘Pulp Reality’. Issues #1, #2, and #3 contain my original B-Man stories chronicling the 1960's adventures of Criswell Speakes, owner of a rundown cinema who finds he can become characters from any film ever shown there...mostly, the cheesy b-movie offerings the Strand Theater has been known for over its 50-year history. 'Pulp Reality' #4 is now available, and my B-Man story "Wind, Reel & Print" won the 2023 Pulp Factory Award for Best Short Story. My work can also be found in the Stormgate publication 'Tim Bruckner's Major Marjorie', a galaxy-spanning New Pulp sci-fi adventure anthology. I was honored to take part in Stormgate's 10th anniversary celebration of Charles F. Millhouse's original Captain Hawklin series with my Lost Adventures novella, 'Captain Hawklin: The Banshee Barnstormer'. Married to my teenage sweetheart Ginny, we reside in a sleepy part of Southern Illinois. We take part in cosplay, go to regional comic cons, support our public libraries, and promote regional animal shelters. Proud parents and grandparents, we enjoy teaching our dog Quill canine sign language while training Casper the cat not to murder the dog in his sleep.
