Kaitlin Mikrut
Born: July 30, 1999 in Melrose Park, Illinois
Connection to Illinois: Mikrut is a Chicago area native. She graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2021 and currently works and resides in the Chicagoland area. Biography: Kaitlin Mikrut is an illustrator, author, and journalist. Born and raised in the Chicago Metropolitan Area. Over the years, she has received numerous art-related awards and was featured in many art exhibits around the Chicagoland area. Three of her paintings were featured in the Museum of Science and Industry (Black Creativity Juried Art Exhibition, 2020 and 2022). During her time at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, she was a Senior Designer and later promoted to Design Editor for the student newspaper, the Daily Illini. Kaitlin was a James Scholar honor student while studying at UIUC. She enjoyed studying at UIUC and participated in numerous campus art-related events.
