Michael Burns

Born: Little Rock, Arkansas
Connection to Illinois: Burns is a graduate of: DuSable High School, Loyola University, and Columbia College - all of Chicago. He has lived the majority of his life in Illinois.

Biography: Michael Burns is a retired educator from Chicago Public Schools and Illinois Department of Corrections. He worked with a not-for-profit organization teaching math skills for construction trades students. He taught after-school programs for elementary school students in Calumet Park and Riverdale, Illinois and televised academic subjects in a pilot project from Eastern Illinois University to the Taylorville Correctional Center. He is a member of the Illinois chapter of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).
