Biography: James Chapman began his career as a Preacher in Oklahoma, beginning c. 1900.He was ordained aminister of the Independent Holiness Church,in1 903 when he became an evangelistic preacher, then pastor of Independent Holiness church in Durant, OK, beginning 1905. He was named president of Arkansas Holiness College for 1910-1911. He was a founding member of the Holiness Church of Christ and the Church of the Nazarene when he ended his career as its general superintendent, from 1928-46.
