Connection to Illinois: Growing up, Sandy Goldsmith lived in many different neighborhoods of Chicago. Sandy finished her bachelor's and master's degrees in English Literature at Roosevelt University.

Biography: Sandy Goldsmith has been writing poetry since college. In graduate school she edited the Oyez Review. After graduation, she taught courses in reading and writing. Later, she joined the faculty in the Department of English and Philosophy at Purdue University Calumet, where she taught a variety of courses including creative writing.Her poems have appeared in numerous literary journals including Skylark, Rockford Review, Rambunctious Review and Rhino. She has won prizes from Poets and Patrons, Triton College, and The Pennsylvania Poetry Society and is a recipient of the Joanne Hirshfield Memorial Prize for Poetry.Goldsmith was a long time member of the Poets' Club of Chicago and a former editor of ''Oyez Review''. Sandy is retired from her teaching position and her first book of poems, ''Imaging Center'', has recently been released by Puddin'Head Press. Sandy is a cancer survivor and many of her poems deal with overcoming cancer.
