Biography: Ruth Allison Coates was a poet and writer, and a personal friend of Carl Sandburg for many years. She had been published by ''Teen Magazine'', ''Boys' Life'', ''The Minnesota Review''and numerous other literary magazines, and by ''Rand McNally''. She had been a writers' workshop leader at Ball State and McKendree College.Always a writer at heart, Ruth continued to write until her death in April, 2003.
