Illinois Connection

Born in Ohio, I moved to Illinois briefly in the 1960s, living in Round Lake while working in Libertyville at Lake Publishing. I moved back back to Ohio in 1968, and back to Illinois for good in 1979, living--in order--in Schaumburg, Chicago, Naperville and Wayne.

Biographical and Professional Information

My entire business career has been spent in publishing: first the newspaper industry, then industrial and consumer magazines. I sold my publishing company, McCormick Communications Group, in 1999 and have since concentrated fulltime on writing, having had twelve books--a combination of non-fiction, fiction and poetry--published during the past ten years or so.

Acclaim for Gene McCormick's Rain On The Sun

"Gene McCormick has mastered the illusion of thoroughness...his work includes deep, sensual descriptions wrought through piercing perceptions...[An] immensely engrossing and interesting collection. McCormick is able to take everyday people and places and weave them into something otherworldly and epic, and that is certainly something worth celebrating."
