Biography: Born Saturnino Orestes Armas Miñoso Arrieta, Minoso was nicknamed 'The Cuban Comet' as well as 'Mr. White Sox'. He played for the Chicago White Sox in 1951-1957, 1960-61, 1964, 1976, 1980. On May 1, 1951, in a game against the New York Yankees in Comiskey Park, the speedy Miñoso became the first black player to wear a White Sox uniform.Minoso was a seven-time American League All-Star and a three-time Gold Glove outfielder. He was elected to the Chicago Sports Hall of Fame in 1984 and the World Baseball Hall of Fame in 1990.
