Richard Salva

Born: in Cleveland, Ohio
Pen Name: None

Connection to Illinois: Salva contends that Abraham Lincoln was a Himalayan yogi in a past life and was reincarnated as Charles Lindbergh.

Biography: While in his teens, he became interested in yoga philosophy and the teachings of reincarnation. He got his first job in order to earn money to visit a yoga community in California called Ananda. (Ananda follows the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda, author of the spiritual classic, Autobiography of a Yogi. It was founded by Yogananda’s direct disciple, Swami Kriyananda.) Two years later, Richard moved to Ananda Village. He has been part of Ananda ever since, and incorporates thirty years of meditation, and study and practice of the deeper teachings of yoga, into his talks and writings. For five years, Richard lived as a monk in the yoga community’s monastery. He began to give sermons and lectures on yoga philosophy and reincarnation, and was ordained as a minister. He was sent out to help start budding communities in Northern California and Italy. He continued to teach classes in the United States and in Europe, and began to allude to his personal historical studies in his talks. Salva works in the PR and editing departments of Crystal Clarity Publishers, Ananda’s publishing house.
