Jessica Nelson North MacDonald was an American author, poet and editor. She graduated from the University of Chicago. During college, North was the president of the University of Chicago Poetry Club and was the editor of the ''Adelphean'' and the ''History of Alpha Delta Pi.'' She was Sterling North's older sister and is one of the major characters portrayed her brother's well-known book, ''Rascal'', which was set when she was 25. North married Reed Inness MacDonald on June 11, 1921.She published her first novel, Arden Acres, in 1935. The story is set in fictional Arden Acres, Illinois.
