Connection to Illinois: He was born in Harvey, Illinois and grew up on Chicago's south side.

Biography: Brown is a Lilly Scholar and Professor of English at Asbury College where, in addition to other literature classes, he teaches a course on C. S. Lewis. To date, he has written three books, two of them on Lewis' Narnia series. Brown has published articles on Lewis in ''Mythlore'', ''The Lamp-Post'', ''CSL'', and ''The New Review of Children's Literature and Librarianship''. He has also had his poetry published in several literary journals, including, ''Connecticut Review'', ''Wind'', ''The Chaffin Review'', ''South Carolina Review'', ''Cold Mountain Review'', and the ''Journal of Kentucky Studies''.
