Biography: The author's father was in the Navy so their family moved around a lot in the author's childhood. Originally studying biology for a possible career in medicine, Matthew eventually found his way to the Pratt Institute in Brookyln, NY. There he studied industrial design (toy design). Upon graduation, he apprenticed with Pop-up author Robert Sabuda who was a 'paper engineer' and author of pop-up books.
