Dr. Herstine Wright has lived in Chicago for many years. She attended Carver Elementary and William Jones Commercial High School. She completed her graduate studies at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and Governors State University in University Park, and Midwest College.

Biographical and Professional Information

Dr. Herstine Wright was born in a small southern town, known for its rich heritage and founded by ex-slaves, to sharecroppers. In 1965 she, along with her family, migrated to Chicago, where she attended and graduated from the Chicago Public Schools. For 34 years she was employed as an educator. Thirty-two years she worked for the community colleges in Illinois teaching Business Education and English courses.

She is the Co-founder of Advocates of Change/OPIB and S.A.L.T.E.D (Saving A Life To End Destruction)Non-profit organizations. She has authored eight (8) powerful books that are distributed around the world. She is also the recipient of the prestigious M3:16 Magazine Community Excellence Award for her exemplary work in the community.
