I was born in Carbondale, IL the eldest of 9 children. Attended Southern Illinois University @Carbondale and received BS in Social Welfare in 1982. Co-founded student run Poetry Factory Press which promoted student performance poetry and first publications. Moved to Chicago, San Francisco, New York, Denver and worked as Administrative Social Worker. Continued to do performance poetry. Received MSW at Fordham University, NYC. Currently reaide in Chicago as an fullm time writer.
Biographical and Professional Information
Received partial scholarship to Fordham University Graduate School of Social Services. 1992 MSW Graduate. Developed poetry workshops designed to communicate with children and adults in crisis. Developed expertise in working with the following populations domestic violence victims, men who batter women, drug/alcohol abusers,foster care children, social work staff development, gay/lesbian issues, HIV program development, crisis intervention programming, breast cancer social intervention.
