Connection to Illinois: Bjorling was born in Galesburg and lived most of his life in the Knoxville-Gilson area. His Illinois writings have featured the former Universalist Church in Galesburg as well as Swedish cultural events in Bishop Hill. He wrote a Spirituality column for the former 'Knoxville Journal,' and was a columnist for the Galesburg independent publications 'The Zephyr,' 'Galesburg Planet,' and currently 'The New Zephyr. ' He graduated from Robert Morris College in Carthage in 1972.
