Illinois Connection

I've only lived in Illinois since 2006, but am the author of 11 books, two of which are non-fiction titles devoted to Illinois (Illinois Curiosities and It Happened in Illinois, both published by Globe-Pequot Publishing). I'm working on a third Illinois book for the same publisher, Myths and Mysteries of Illinois. My other books include: A Short History of Carson City, Nevada; Nevada Curiosities, Roadside History of Nevada; and Mysteries and Legends of Nevada. Since 2006, I have served as Director of Student Publications and as a journalism instructor at Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL.

Bringing attention to the desert, boom-and-bust mining towns, quirky roadside stops, and of course, Las Vegas, Moreno presents the history, culture, tales, and sights of Nevada. The information is organized by area, with an introduction and chronology presented separately. Illustrating the text are approximately 140 black-and-white photographs, and a map for each of the six areas described. Moreno teaches Nevada history at Western Nevada Community College, and is the publisher of Nevada Magazine. Annotation copyrighted by Book News Inc., Portland, OR.
