Banash was born in Chicago and raised in Niles, Illinois. He received his Bachelor of Philosophy in Political Science from Northwestern University in 1968 and his Master of Arts degree in Urban Studies from Roosevelt University in 1972. He currently resides on Chicago's far northwest side.

Biographical and Professional Information

Stan "Tex" Banash is an author, western history writer and book reviewer. He has authored numerous feature articles and book reviews for a variety of national magazines including The Tombstone Epitaph, Wild West magazine, Journal of the West and Western Historical Quarterly.

He is a member of Western Writers of America, Western History Association, Westerners International and The Westerners - Chicago Corral.
