DuJardin's first novels, published between 1935 and 1946, were written for adults and often appeared first in magazine serial form. She was one of the most popular authors of girls series fiction in the 1950s.

Rosamond du Jardin wrote 17 young adult novels. Her Tobey Heydon and Pam and Penny Howard books are among the most beloved teen romance novels of their era.
