Biographical and Professional Information

The Boston Globe says Molly MacRae writes “murder with a dose of drollery” and Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine says she “writes with familiarity, wit, and charm.” MacRae writes traditional and cozy mysteries and mystery short stories. Her short stories have appeared in Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine since 1990.

MacRae grew up in Barrington, Illinois. She has also lived in Edinburgh, Scotland and Abilene, Texas and spent twenty years in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Upper East Tennessee, where she managed an independent bookstore. Before the lure of books hooked her, she was curator of the history museum in Jonesborough, Tennessee’s oldest town. MacRae currently lives in Champaign, Illinois, where she connects children with books at the public library.
