Biographical and Professional Information

Harriet Arkley coordinated early childhood programs for the Springfield Illinois public schools, was the principal of the Withrow Early Childhood Center, and was the first principal of the Springfield Ball Charter School. The Good News Chair is the story of how a special chair changed the culture of an elementary school office and how it could work in either a home or classroom setting to recognize and encourage positive behavior. With stories of children highlighted, Harriet Arkley tells about the birth of the Good News Chair, what happened when children sat in the Chair, and includes instructions on how to make your own Chair.

A beloved teacher and principal, Arkley now resides in the Pacific Northwest.
