Elizabeth was born in Illinois but grew up on the grounds of a Civil War veterans' home near Milwaukee where her father worked.

Biographical and Professional Information

Elizabeth was a poet and author and she wrote historical novels that were often set during the Civil War. After her father's death in 1927, she and her mother moved to New York City. Corbett has authored more than 50 novels. She has also written short stories, plays, and many articles. Her best known character is the spry octogenarian, Mrs. Meigs,
