George graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and now lives in Evanston, Illinois.
Biographical and Professional Information
Alice George is a poet, writer and painter. She grew up in Kentucky and received degrees first from Oberlin College and then the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (MFA in Writing). Her work has been published in magazines such as Field, Diagram, Quarter After Eight, New Orleans Review and Sentence, and in eight anthologies, most recently in Mentor and Muse.
George teaches poetry in K-12 classrooms, is an instructor in the University of Chicago's Graham School certificate in creative writing program and Northwestern University's Center for Talent Development. She served as an Editor of RHINO for 10 years and is now on the Advisory Board of that award-wining magazine. Her work has been published in a wide range of literary journals and anthologies.
A seven-time recipient of Ragdale Foundation Fellowships, Alice was awarded an Illinois Arts Council Fellowship for Poetry in 2005. She currently resides in Evanston, Illinois.
